Thrift Haul – Junking Karma In Effect!

This weekend of picking was an interesting one – I ended up at a garage sale at a house that looked very familiar. As I started looking at the items, they also looked familiar – including the 4 Marushka prints in the photo above. The lady told me she had a few more that had sold earlier in the morning – and it hit me. I’d been to an estate sale at that house a few weeks ago!

Actually, that sale is the one that almost inspired a rant post about estate sale prices (I might write it yet!) – not just that sale, but the Marushkas in particular. See, I got to that sale a couple hours after 2nd day, half off pricing started – and really, REALLY wanted the 7 or 8 Marushkas that were hanging on the wall. Unfortunately, the prices on them were still too high, even at half off.

I found the lady running the sale (it was a professional estate sale company running it) and made her an offer on all of them. She wouldn’t even consider it – and I left knowing that they would probably end up going unsold.

Turns out I was right! The family was selling all the unsolds from the estate sale at a garage sale – and I walked away with the Marushkas for about 1/5 of the price I offered the estate sale lady. Junking karma in effect – the universe wanted me to have them, apparently! Well, part of them – I wish I would have gotten there sooner and been able to grab the entire lot…

I picked up a few other things at a community yard sale as well – so while not a huge haul this time around, it was a pretty satisfying one!
