New goodness at auction on eBay this week!

Another crazy week here in Vintage Goodness land – but, I did manage to list a bit more than I did last week. That’s progress, right? ;)

I actually held this item back and didn’t show it in my last Thrift Haul post – my plan was to do a Featured Collectible post about Pixieware on Wednesday and feature it there. That didn’t end up happening this week, but it’s still on the to-do list! I’ve never actually found any “out in the wild” before, it’s just not something you see around a lot – hence the higher prices you can get for them on eBay.

Thrift Haul – Got My Mojo Back!

2 Comments on Thrift Haul – Got My Mojo Back!

Much, MUCH better weekend this weekend than last weekend – hooray! A couple good estate sales and a large neighborhood garage sale combined to help me bring home a nice little haul…

001Some fun vintage beer trays, a green suitcase that had me at its stripey edge, some Sweetheart paper cups (wait til you see the pattern on them!), a yellow plastic desk organizer, a Roy Rogers and Trigger bank, an Ohio Art plaid metal lunchbox, a Florentia Italy tissue box, a Lustro Ware recipe box, a cowboy themed restaurant ware divided plate, an Italian wood tray, a wire magazine rack, some Dansk steak knives, some really cool radio headphones from 1980, a pair of Skechers shoes, a brown striped pottery planter, and last but not least – a cast iron mystery bug that looks like it could be a doorstop and/or a wall hanging! I just can’t pass up on the weird… ;)

008Blue plaid blanket, silver striped glasses with tray, a few mugs including Taylor & Ng, Boynton and The Far Side, and one of those ceramic mask wall hangings that every little girl in the 80’s had hanging on their bedroom wall.

011Some new Rockport men’s shoes that still have their $120 (!!) price tag on them, a Metro stainless mixing bowl set, and a set of Durant’s Civilization books which I knew to grab thanks to my friend Shannon over at The Recycleista’s blog post about them.

This coming weekend I might try to head over to the Springfield Flea Market if I can manage it, if not I’m sure there will be plenty of other sales for me to hit up… In the meantime I REALLY need to get some stuff listed! Wish me luck…

Out & About – Columbus, Ohio Vintage Events For 2015

eventsheaderIt is looking like me documenting my normal shopping adventures for the Out & About section of the blog is something that isn’t destined to happen – I’m just too focused on finding inventory. So, the other day I did a big ‘ol search of the interwebs looking for vintage related events for the rest of 2015, thinking that I might try to attend a few with just the blog in mind – in other words, I would be going not to shop for inventory so much as for sharing the experience with you all…

All of these events are in Columbus, with the exception of the Springfield show, because, well, that’s where I live. ;) After you look over this list, feel free to leave a comment on which ones you would most like to see me hit up!

springfieldSpringfield Antique Show & Flea Market
Spring Extravaganza – May 15, 16, & 17
Fall Extravaganza – Sept. 18, 19 & 20

The Springfield show is consistently mentioned by folks making lists of the best flea markets. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Columbus, so not too tough to get to – I’ve actually been to it a few times, I covered my first trip there over on the old blog way back in 2008. It’s a HUGE show – thousands of vendors and tens of thousands of attendees.

holidayshowMidwest Holiday Antique Show
May 24th

This looks like a fun event devoted just to vintage holiday items! I love me some old Christmas and Halloween stuff, so I will try to make sure I don’t miss this one.

salvagedtreasuresSalvaged Treasures Marketplace
June 13th & 14th

I think this is a brand new show, which is cool, plus it looks like it’s main goal is to feature upcycled and repurposed items. I don’t do much of that stuff myself, but it could be a good time checking out what all the truly talented people get up to in that arena.

pulpfestPulpfest 2015
August 13th, 14th, 15th & 16th

This convention has been on my radar for a while now, but I’ve never actually gone to it. Going to cover it for the blog might just make it finally happen… Here’s some of what will be there, from their website:

Although the focus of PulpFest 2015 will be pulp magazines and related materials, visitors will also find vintage paperbacks, digests, men’s adventure and true crime magazines, first edition hardcovers, series books, dime novels, original art, Big Little Books, B-movies and serials and related collectibles, old-time-radio shows, and Golden and Silver Age comic books for sale in its 15,800 square-foot dealers’ room.

papershowColumbus Paper, Postcard, and Book Show
September 13th

This seems like an old school type of show dedicated to ephemera – I bet there are some amazing, experienced dealers that set up there every year.

countrylivingfairCountry Living Fair
September 18, 19, & 20

The Country Living Fair happens every year, literally five minutes from my house – but I’ve never gone. The combination of super ridiculous high prices (from what I’ve heard, anyway) and the huge crowd in a kind of small area have kept me away… But, if you all were dying for me to check it out, I would give it a shot!

columbustoycollectibleshowColumbus Toy & Collectible Show
September 12 & 13

This is the one show I might be able to talk my boyfriend into going with me to check out! I’m guessing it will be a mixture of vintage and newer toys, but looks like fun just the same…

December 19, 20

This show happens ever year during the fall and winter months, I’ve been to it several times but haven’t gone lately… The first show in November is usually the largest. I’ve not usually found many deals at this show, but it is a fun one to walk around for sure.

ohio-historical-31950’s – Building the American Dream
Ohio Historical Society
Through 2018

This isn’t an event so much as it is an exhibit, which has been in place for a while now, 5 minutes from my house (same spot where they hold the Country Living Fair, actually). I keep meaning to head over there and check it out, but haven’t made it yet… They’ve re-created a 1950’s Lustron home right inside the building, which should be pretty neat!

So what do you all think? Which ones should be at the top of my to-do list?
Let me know in the comments! :)

New goodness at auction on eBay this week!

Guys, I am so behind on my listing… Like REALLY behind. The last couple of weeks other stuff has kept getting in the way of me getting my work done – but I swear, with the Thrift Gods as my witness, I will have a much longer post next Saturday than the one that I have today! ;)

Thrift Haul – Slim Pickins!

2 Comments on Thrift Haul – Slim Pickins!

I worked hard this weekend – I hit a lot of sales, including 2 community yard sales, but I didn’t manage to come home with much. I had to walk out of an estate sale that had a TON of great stuff that I would have loved to have grabbed, but even at half off the prices were out of my range… I almost wrote a rant post about estate sale prices, and I still might – needless to say, I have THOUGHTS. lol

Here’s what I did find:

003Wicker paper tray, deer salt and pepper shakers, red made in England Dr. Martens (best find of the weekend for sure!), Irvingware serving set, green leather laptop bag, Eddie Bauer backpack, silver rim glasses set, and a couple of books that are falling apart, but have cool illustrations inside that I can list on Etsy.

008Took a chance on some cool 70’s & 80’s metal belt buckles – I’ve not sold many in the past, but I thought they were neat and the price was right… Wish me luck with them!
